About Umai Teppanyaki & Hot Pot

Umai Teppanyaki & Hot Pot is a specialty restaurant that brings two classic Asian culinary traditions to Princess Cruises: Japanese-style teppanyaki and shabu-shabu hot pot. The venue is split into two experiences. In the teppanyaki section, chefs prepare meals tableside on an iron griddle with theatrical flair, engaging guests with skilled knife work, sizzling sounds, and showmanship. On the hot pot side, guests cook their own ingredients tableside in a steaming pot of flavorful broth.

Both experiences are designed to be interactive and social, perfect for couples, families, and groups of friends. The venue features modern décor with Japanese accents, communal tables for hot pot, and bar-style seating for teppanyaki. It is open for dinner service and requires a reservation due to limited seating and popularity.

Umai Teppanyaki & Hot Pot Menu Highlights

The Umai Teppanyaki menu begins with light starters like edamame pods and miso soup. Guests choose one appetizer, including options like the Kabuki Salad with wakame seaweed, Prawn Cracker Shrimp with umami ketchup, or Tonkatsu pork with BBQ katsu sauce.

For the main course, guests choose two proteins from a selection that includes Black Tiger Shrimp, Miso Salmon, Teriyaki Chicken, NY Strip Steak, Filet Mignon, and more. Each entrée comes with fried rice and stir-fried vegetables. Premium upgrades are available, including Wagyu Sirloin Steak, Lobster Tail, and the Ryujin Trio featuring lobster, scallops, and jumbo shrimp. Dessert options include mochi ice cream or fruit sashimi.

The Umai Hot Pot side allows guests to choose from three broths: Classic Tomato, Princess Miso, or Kaffir Lime & Lemongrass. Diners then select a platter—Vegetarian, Meat, or Seafood—or can mix and match from all three. Choices include tofu, pork belly, beef, shrimp, scallops, and more. A variety of noodles, rice, and dipping sauces round out the experience. Dessert selections mirror the teppanyaki menu.

A full beverage menu is available with specialty cocktails like the Umai Pink Cocktail and the Full of Seoul, along with a wide selection of sake, Japanese spirits, wine, and beer. Highlights include Japanese beers like Asahi and Sapporo, and premium Japanese whiskies and gin.

Cost to Eat at Umai Teppanyaki & Hot Pot

The cover charge for the Hot Pot experience includes one broth, a choice of protein options, side dishes, dipping sauces, and dessert. Premium protein upgrades like Wagyu beef and lobster come with an additional surcharge. Beverages are priced separately. An automatic 18% service charge is added to all food and beverage purchases.

Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on sea days when demand for specialty dining tends to be higher.
